Parks and Gardens adorn the city of Meerut as one can find a number of them all over the city. Some of the parks such as the Company Garden, Victoria Park were started during the times of British, while some others came into existence in the recent times. While most of them are managed by the Meeerut Municipal Corporation the others that are located near the Cantonment area are managed by the Cantonment Board. Suraj Kund Park in Meerut
The Suraj Kund Park is popular for its lush and green surroundings close to the Suraj Kund Lake. With number of temples such as Chandi Devi Temple, Baba Manoharnath temple, historical monuments like the Shahpeer's Dargah are also present in the vicinity. Victoria Park in Meerut
The Victoria Park has played a significant role in the freedom struggle of 1857. Nearly 85 Indian soldiers were imprisoned in the jail here for refusing to use the cartridges made by the British. Meerut Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden was established in 1970 inside the campus of Meerut University. Known for its diverse variety of flora, they have a large collection of medicinal plants as well. Most of the plants that are present in the Indo-Gangetic plains have been preserved here at the garden.
